Why is LIVING SILICA® packaged in plastic instead of glass?

We use dark, BPA-free plastic bottles to keep our product safe and stable. Glass bottles are not suitable because our formula contains silica, which is an organic form of silicon (Si). Glass is also made from silicon. When these two forms of silicon come into contact, they react.

This reaction causes the silica in our product to crystallize, making the formula ineffective. Plastic does not react with silica, so it keeps the product stable during storage and transport.

The dark color of the plastic also protects the product from UV light, preventing damage. While we are working to find more sustainable options, BPA-free plastic is currently the best choice for safety, performance, and protection.
